Spring or Autumn Renovation works
The benefits of lawn renovation works are often underestimated, these additional procedures can greatly improve your lawn and should be taken into consideration as part of your annual lawn care programme.
At AML Lawn Care, we only recommend renovations if they are necessary. Lawn renovation works include scarifying, aeration, over-seeding and top dressing. They are best carried out between mid-August and early October, with lighter renovations carried out during the spring treatments between February and April.
When it comes to renovations, we have a comprehensive range of specialist equipment and expertise to carry out these vital procedures.
Aeration
Greatly improves the soil and root structure by relieving compaction and penetrating the sub-surface thatch, helping to improve surface drainage allowing vital nutrients and water into the soil as well as assisting with vital bacterial activity.
Aeration can be carried out at anytime of year providing the ground is not too dry, frozen or water-logged, with the best time being in the Autumn and Spring.
Scarification
Removes harmful excess thatch from your lawn. Thatch is a build up of surface and sub-surface dead grass, grass clippings & moss that can accumulate over many years.
Too much thatch will cause deterioration in the quality of your lawn because it chokes the lawn and prevents nutrient, air and water reaching the root zone. Removing this layer encourages fresh, more resilient grass growth.
Over-seeding
Over seeding is a very important part of keeping a lawn vibrant and healthy.
It is essential to regenerate your lawn by over-seeding, especially if aeration or scarification has taken place, which will have created soil contact and a favourable environment for the new seed to develop successfully.
Top Dressing
Top dressing is made up from sand and loam. Once the renovation process has happened top dressing is worked into the soil surface.
Advantages of top dressing are that it speeds up the recovery after scarification or aeration has taken place. it also works to improve surface quality, assists germination after over seeding and supports with surface drainage.
